Processing card requests

Processing companion card tickets.

As an organisation or business owner, you decide on how you want to process a companion card request. The booking and ticket distribution practices for companion tickets should not be more difficult than the standard ticketing practices of your venue or activity.

It’s good to offer more than one option for payment, collection or queries to meet the varying cardholders’ accessibility requirements. Options may include:

  • online
  • telephone
  • in person.

Card terms and conditions

Some of the important terms and conditions you need to know:

  • the card can be used in conjunction with any recognised concession cards
  • cardholders should be seated or located closely to their companion to get assistance when required
  • cardholders with specific seating requirements need to let you know when booking a ticket
  • cardholders must let you know they require a companion ticket when they book or buy their own ticket
  • only the person whose photograph and details are on the card can use the card
  • cardholders must present their valid card during ticket collection and at any time when asked during the activity. If cardholders cannot present their card, they may be charged for the companion ticket.
  • companions cannot use a ticket without the cardholder being present
  • any charges for participation over and above general admission costs (e.g. a fee for rides in addition to an entry fee at a fun park) where the cardholder requires assistance in order to participate, you must issue a ticket for these additional components.
